Formed in 1998, the choir is a mixed voice social group of some 20 singers. We support the local community by singing at the Cilcain Community Cafe, at Church and Chapel services and by leading Christmas Carols in the pub! We also take part in more formal concerts and musical events throughout the year, such as the famous Cilcain Music Festival (Gwyl Cilcain). We sing at weddings, christenings, fetes and other events by invitation.
The choir sings in four parts - soprano, alto, tenor and bass, and rehearses at Capel Gad schoolroom in Cilcain on Sunday evenings from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. New members are always welcome, and there is no formal audition. This is basically an amateur group, singing SATB, for enjoyment and entertainment - but above all it is fun.
Members of Côr Cilcain benefit greatly from the skill and experience of our two professional musicians:
Malcolm has been our Musical Director for several years. He has vast experience and knowledge and has enjoyed singing all over the world under the baton of some of the leading choral and orchestral conductors.
We are fortunate to have Liz Gladman as our accompanist: she is a very accomplished and talented musician and with her accurate and sympathetic playing, keeps us all together and in tune!
